TKS Extension
On Thursday, the 14th of May 2026, the Insignis Academy Trust and The Kingsbrook School teams joined colleagues from Buckinghamshire Council, Morgan Sindall, MACE and Homes England to celebrate the topping-out ceremony for The Kingsbrook School Eighth form of Entry extension.
The topping out ceremony was conducted by the Morgan Sindell project manager, Robert Addison, and was a traditional Dutch ceremony, which was a new experience for all involved.
Everyone at Insignis Academy Trust and The Kingsbrook School is very excited to be moving into our eighth form of entry expansion from September 2027. The Kingsbrook School was designed and built to grow to 10 forms of entry at some point in the lifetime of the school. When we first opened, we anticipated that the move to 8 or 10 forms would be sometime in the 2030s; however, the unprecedented growth in the Aylesbury area and in particular, the Kingsbrook area has meant that we have had to move to the 8FE expansion earlier than anticipated. This means that from September 2027, The Kingsbrook School will have a pupil intake in Year 7 of 240 students.
Nancy Simpson, Headteacher at the Kingsbrook School, said, “It is so exciting to have reached this milestone on the project. The views from the roof of the extension over the growing community of Kingsbrook were spectacular, and a reminder of the fantastic community we have built at the school and serve - the extension will provide the essential school places as the community grows, and that is fantastic.”
It has been a real pleasure to work again with the local authority, Morgan Sindall, the original school builders and MACE our design Guardians, on the construction of the extension. We look forward to successfully opening the extended wing of the school for students in September 2027.
Garret Fay, CEO of Insignis Academy Trust, said, “The growth of The Kingsbrook School mirrors the growth and development in Aylesbury as a town. We are very proud to be part of helping to provide some of the key services that parents and families in a growing town need. We are also very proud to be at the heart of the Kingsbrook community”.
